This Year's Model Updates:

The height-adjustable allroad debuted last year to fill a slot left in Audi's lineup by the lack of an SUV. For 2002, a heated multifunctional steering wheel with Tiptronic is an option, as is an OnStar telematics system. Standard is an in-dash six-disc changer. Brushed aluminum-finish accents spruce up the interior.

Pros:
  • Elegant styling, sumptuous interior, height-adjustable suspension, extensive safety features, lively V6 engine.
Cons:
  • Steep price tag, lack of a V8 engine, no transfer case for more adventurous off-roaders.

Elegant looks-inside and out. Very comfortable for long rides. An absolute joy to drive. Acceleration is very good (could be better with a V8) and handling is superb with minimum body lean, no tire squealing.

A great ride overall. This car has no major weaknesses, and a whole lot of strengths. Pros: Good looks and performance. Great interior and overall comfort. Excellent handling and braking for such a heavy car (4200 lbs.)Adjustable suspension is great for trips on rough city roads, plus its cool when it auto-adjusts at a stoplight. Optional third seat in rear helps haul small kids around without taking up space for adults in back. Good build quality -- over 4K miles and no problems. And best of all, its not a truck! Cons: Fuel economy could be better. A bit pricey, but you can pay more and get less for a truck!

  • The ultimate family vehicle - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro

Theres no need to have to give up driving enjoyment just because you need to take the family along. With a firm suspension, powerful twin-turbo engine and 6 speed manual transmission, drivers who enjoy driving will appreciate this car all the time (the lag some people complain about only happens on the tiptronic auto trans versions), while the rest of the family will enjoy the room, comfort and appearance of the best auto interior on the market. Cargo and load capacity is great (better than most SUVs)! Theres nothing else that combines the power, handling, luxury, carrying capacity, and real AWD capability - ESPECIALLY if you want a manual trans!

mother owns car i see it every day.Has been in the shop 8 times no kidding.she complains about the accelaration off the line lags to much for twin turbo but i think vw have that problem in general.do not like the car esp for the price much better choices out there for less money.try acura mdx instead or even the passat wagon.

Bought one of first in area. Love the six speed as it turns the wagon in to a sports car. Excellent handling for such a big car. Of course, wish the mileage was better, but we have averaged 20.3 in 15000 miles, burning plus grade. Used off road with pumps cranked up. Handled rocks and ruts quite well. Second Audi, the first being a 1996 A4. Can not say enough about innovation and quality (how far Audi has come in just a few years!) Audi always has been innovative and now it has the quality to boot., and is one of best marques on road, including BMW and Mercedes.

I dont need to say much but the Allroad is great! I have had it for about a year and everything about it is wonderful. Its 0-60 performance(6.8sec) is wondeful, its handling is outstanding and its looks are perfect. I took it up in the mountains and it easily went through creeks and mud and I love the fact how it rises up with the touch of a button. I did hesitate buying an Audi but I was convinced they changed(reliability wise) and that they did. Last I would like to say this car is just not a Wagon it has Suv/wagon appeal, Audis chrome affect looks, Porschea handling, and a beatiful interior to fit.

  • A Stylish Rocket! - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro

Have had the allroad about 4 months now. So far so good! Great styling, performance, handling and stopping power. Suspension a bit bouncy on rough surfaces, but manageable. Seems to be built like a Swiss watch, fit and finish is outstanding. Anxious to see how it does in snow (live in Colorado). A real blast to drive in the mountains, it really flies up the passes. Suspect it will not do as well in snow as my Subaru Outback, however, tires on Audi are very wide. Turbo lag a definite annoyance.

This is an excellent sports wagon, best-in-breed for a wintertime vehicle, as well as crusing at 100+ mph. Its agle, fast, sure-footed, and well-engineered. This car can take on the bush or carry a family to the mall with aplomb. The auto-tranny is good; the 6-spd. is great! After 10K miles, reliability has been excellent.

  • Excellent hwy hauler - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro

Purchased this car certified used. Got plenty of compliments about the way it looks (i.e. expensive). People at work were questioning if I got some secret raise. As far as driving the car, its not quite the drivers car but I knew that coming in. What it excels in is a highway hauler. I needed something to drive up to Lake Tahoe hauling my skis, mtn bike, and friends while cruisng in comfort. Once this car is on the highway it just hauls and is very quiet and comfortable. Much more than an Outback I use to own. Turbo/transmission lag is annoying and heard it can be fixed with an aftermarket ECU. Also when the car is cold it feels like its running on 4 cylinders.

I have never owned an Audi before my 2002 allroad. its a solid-feeling, safe car, which is very important to me because I have two small children. I feel in complete control with this car. My last vehicle was a Jeep Cherokee. It had too much play in the steering wheel. I wasnt comfortable on the turns to the extent that I never wanted an suv again. So, with this car I have the 4-wheel drive i need during the winter, but its low to the ground, comfortable and, again, solid.
